There are some meetups that are not strictly location based. They could be based on affinity groups or other topics that don't have an official d.o initiative. It would be nice to have a category for these events.
Go to Community Events calendar and add a meetup for something like Women in Drupal and ponder which category to select. "Local meetup" often feels the closest even though the meeting is virtual and not geographically specific.
Add another category for "Topic-based Meetup" or change "Local meetup" to "Meetup"
Discuss and refine solution. In Slack a few event organizers briefly discussed. We were leaning toward broadening the existing category instead of adding another, as long as there is still a way to filter location-based meetups from others. It is helpful to be able to see all the different region-specific gatherings that take place in our community.
