I guess this is a core issue, but couldn't find one.
Is there an existing core issue that can be linked on the module page so that this might get resolved in core one day?

I think it would make sense to have the core implementation similar to the one from this module, using the commented parent entity and an anchor link. That would make a lot of sense to me, at least.
