Sitemap is still displaying unpublished nodes after they are unpublished and the sitemap is rebuilt and cache cleared. This is a similar issue as https://www.drupal.org/project/xmlsitemap/issues/2266933 → that does not appear to be resolved.
Generate sitemap for article or basic page content type.
Build the sitemap.
Unpublish desired node.
Rebuild sitemap and clear cache
Node still shows in the list.
Check if node is published or give the option to select "All", "Published", or "Unpublished."

I've had a report of a similar issue. From reading the linked issue, I'm wondering in my case if it's my use of scheduled_transitions → is causing this issue with either node access OR due to the different status types that aren't strictly published or unpublished ("Draft", for example).
