This module is not obsolete

Is there any other scenario, other than Layout Builder, where the Media Library would be rendered within the front-end theme?

We edit content within our front-end theme.

We do this because we provide styling options from the front-end theme as CKEditor styles. They will not display in the admin template.

The proposed replacement module does not work for this usecase at all.

This module is obsolete when used for layout builder media library. Site administrators can use the suggested replacement module.

This module is still relevant when used to provide styling for media library in front-end themes. It should not be discontinued. Editing in the front end theme is a core provided feature. Layout builder is also encouraging editing in the front-end theme.

Ultimately the media library module in core should be fixed so it injects the correct templates and styles to function regardless of what theme it's used in, with the ability for themes to override the default templates/styles to match the theme. But until this happens this module is very much still needed for any theme that isn't based upon a core theme.
