cshs wont search by father

According to my experience, CSHS cannot filter by parent values in a hierarchical taxonomy.
Let's imagine I have a taxonomy with parents and children. I can only filter with CSHS if I specify both a parent AND a child.
If I only specify a parent and leave the child selection as -Any-, it doesn't work.

Am I configuring something wrong?
