Not sure if that is really such a good idea, because I am missing info here :on the one hand, this link appears to be the proper place for this documentation in contrib, but now D10 users (and 8, 9..) who have Statistics in core do not have any documentation left. Is this really desired ?
I thought there would be 3 doc pages: 1 for core 7, 1 for core 8 to 10.3, 1 for contrib ?

There are only two versions of documentation for a core module, one is the Drupal 7 version → and one is the modern Drupal version → . When a modern module moves from core to contrib, the documentation for it that was at "Core modules" moves to Contributed module documentation → . That work is completed and done according to the related core policy.
So, anyone with a link to where the docs used to be "Core" structure will still find it. You can see this because the link on the Statistics project page still works. Of course, it is possible that the documentation will diverge from the capabilities of the core module in Drupal 10 but that is balanced by the fact that we encourage sites to use the contributed module and not a deprecated one.
I hope that helps!

Sorry if I'm a bit dense, but I'm not sure I'm following:
- The suggested page https://www.drupal.org/docs/contributed-modules/statistics → appears to be for this contrib version for 1O.3+, since it is part of the "contributed modules" documentation, as its URL shows
- ...but its content describe the D8-D10.3 version in core
- The page at https://www.drupal.org/docs/7/core/modules/statistics → , linked from the previous one, is for the D7- version
- But then users of the core supported version for D10.0-D10.3 will have no documentation ?
I thought the finalized version would be:
1 page for the contributed version at https://www.drupal.org/docs/contributed-modules/statistics →
1 page for the core D8-D10.3 version ...somewhere, containing the one currently at the contrib URL https://www.drupal.org/docs/contributed-modules/statistics/overview → on a core docs URL since this is core in those versions
1 page for the core D7- version at https://www.drupal.org/docs/7/core/modules/statistics →Or alternatively/preferably:
- 1 page for the contributed version on Gitlab pages as outlined in #3384688: Automatically publish a GitLab pages site →
- 1 page for the core D8-D10.3 version ...somewhere, containing the one currently at the contrib URL https://www.drupal.org/docs/contributed-modules/statistics/overview → on a core docs URL since this is core in those versions
- 1 page for the core D7- version at https://www.drupal.org/docs/7/core/modules/statistics →

No worries. Yes, the version that remains in Drupal 10 core will not have documentation. That is true. We keep the core extension documentation up to date with 11.x HEAD and thus the extension documentation is moved. It may not be ideal but that is what has been agreed upon.
Also, in the mix is that extensions in contrib can evolve faster that core. That will help to encourage sites to move to the contrib version sooner rather than later.
I see that the project page now has a link to the documentation for the Drupal 7 core version. That is unnecessary because Drupal 7 core should be linking to that in the on line help text. It may also cause confusion for anyone installing the contrib version and then reading D7 docs. I think the link on the project page should just be for the Statistics in contrib docs. Just as is done for other removed extensions such as forum → , aggregator → and tour → .
