How can I paginate comments on a forum topic?

I have my forum set up, as well as a few test topics and comments. How can I make it so that the comments will be paginated across multiple pages, similar to how Views can use pagination? For example, maybe only show 20 comments per page. Otherwise, these forum topics would become far too long and user-unfriendly.

If the comments cannot be paginated natively, then I know I can create a View of comments and paginate them. But if I did that, then how can I add the comment form to the page, since it would be removed when I remove the normal comment item in lieu of the Views-driven comments.

If you go to admin > structure > content types > forum > manage fields and change the settings on the comment field there is an option for how many comments per page, default is 50
