Menu Stucture breaks when node is deleted

When we were testing this module, we found that when a node is trashed that's in the menu structure the menu blocks break and are unable to display any nodes that are at the same level or lower than where the node that was deleted was located. Full disclosure, we have the menu blocks module installed so I'm not sure if this is on their side or on y'alls side. I'm creating a duplicate ticket over on their module as well to cover my bases.

Steps to reproduce

  • Create a node and add to the menu structure
  • Add sub content to the same menu structure
  • Trash some of the content in the menu structure
  • View some of the content at the same level as the Trashed content as an anonymous user
  • The menu links have gone missing and cache clear does not resolve

However, when the menu link has been removed from the node prior to being trashed the menu stays intact.

I am happy to provide more detail or work with someone to solve this issue, I'm just unsure where to start.
