Popular tag populating all reference fields inside inline entity form

Problem/Motivation

I have an entity reference field with inline entity form, using complex form with add new/existing content.

Steps to reproduce

When I click on a popular tags link inside the nested form, all reference fields in it get the value filled.

I am guessing it's looking at input elements inside the reference field and applying to all of them?

Proposed resolution

Needs debugging, and to repro in another site.
