The forum is the heart of the Drupal Centre. It is a place where people interested in Drupal can ask questions about Drupal problems or help others solve Drupal problems with their answers.
A forum post is not just a new topic that can be supplemented by comments. Each forum post should be able to be placed on a watch list so that users can assign forum posts to themselves that they would like to answer or whose question is just as interesting to them as it is to the author of the respective post.
In addition, it should be possible to quote individual comments so that users can refer to comments that have already been made in the course of the discussion and, if necessary, reply to comments made further back within a discussion. For this purpose, it must be possible to quote a comment simply so that it is then possible to reply directly to the quote.
In future, it should also be possible to subscribe to posts so that users can be notified by e-mail when someone has replied to a subscribed post in the forum. In this way, community users can find out about the progress of a discussion in the forum without having to visit the website.
