This is now implemented and in 3.x dev.

At the moment, enabling printable does so for an entire entity type. This means that if you select to display the "print" link, it actually shows up everywhere. There are several node types that we wouldn't want to make available for printer friendliness, and it just causes Google to go run a muck surfacing content that maybe shouldn't even be visible on it's own.
