404 Sitemaps ping is deprecated

Problem/Motivation

simple_sitemap_engines
GuzzleHttp\Exception\ClientException: Client error: `GET https://www.google.com/ping?sitemap=https://www.mysite.com/sitemap.xml` resulted in a `404 Sitemaps ping is deprecated. See https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2023/06/sitemaps-lastmod-ping.` response: Sitemaps ping is deprecated. See https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2023/06/sitemaps-lastmod (truncated...) in GuzzleHttp\Exception\RequestException::create() (regel 113 van /home/mysite/public_html/vendor/guzzlehttp/guzzle/src/Exception/RequestException.php).

Steps to reproduce

Error is generated automatically after cron run and can be seen in the Recent log messages.

Please help me to fix this error.

    Google just stopped supporting the sitemap ping protocol. Bing did the same a while ago, but they use an alternative - IndexNow (similarly to Yandex). Thankfully Google claims you don't need to submit your sitemap anymore for it to see changes and if it comes to other search engines, you are covered with this module, as it also supports the IndexNow protocol.

    I will be pushing an update forcefully disabling sitemap pinging for Google. Until then, you can just disable it via UI here: /admin/config/search/simplesitemap/engines/settings
