A content editor can edit and replace an image without losing the alternative text

Problem/Motivation

With Drupal media entities, it should be possible to replace the image for an entity without losing alt text. Out of the box, though, this is not possible.

Modules that can fix this:

• Media Entity File Redirect →

Replacing an image while keeping the alternative text would save some hassle; these modules have also come up for keeping the same / creating a redirect for a file when the file is changed (especially relevant for PDF files referenced in e-mails, other PDF files, etc). All else being equal we should choose a solution that can do that as well, if any do.
