Regional Date Format not reflecting in exposed filter

Problem/Motivation

The Date format has been configured at: admin/config/regional/date-time
The format is mm/dd/yyyy

Please note we are creating a view to manage content with "Authored on" as an exposed filter. The above global date settings are not picked up in the view.

There is no way to configure the date format of this exposed filter.

Steps to reproduce

1. Date format has been configured at: admin/config/regional/date-time as mm/dd/yyyy
2. Install the "Views Date Filter" module
3. Configure view to manage content with authored on as exposed filter
4. See that the date filter exposed does not pick up the Date format configured in regional settings.

Proposed resolution

The date filter should pick up the regional date format
