Just added a taxonomy reference to 6.0.x and 10.3.x without issue.
I have tried exposing two filters - one is a taxonomy term reference, and the other is a simple list field. In neither case am i able to change the exposed filter settings. I get the message "This section lets you select additional options for exposed filters. Some options are only available in certain situations. If you do not see the options you expect, please see the BEF settings documentation page for more details."
For both fields I enabled "Allow multiple selections" as suggssted on this page: https://www.drupal.org/node/1701012 →
I am using:
Drupal 10.1.5
BEF 6.0.3
I have set this as a bug report as it feels like a bug, but it could be a support request if I have just misunderstood the module (although I have used it many times before over the years, so I thought I knew what I was doing...)
