Allow including module name and version in email notifications

Created on 14 January 2024, 5 months ago

Problem/Motivation

You can enable email notification when a new version is available via "Update Manager settings" under /admin/reports/updates/settings which is a great feature.

But you need to visit the web site to see which modules or themes have a new version. It would be great if it was possible to see this directly in the email notification.

Steps to reproduce

Get an email about new updates, and need to visit web site to see which modules have a new release.

Proposed resolution

Allow including versions in email notifications, to immediately see which modules and themes have a new release in the email.

This should be optional, via a new settings option, since not everyone wants this:

"☐ Include module or theme name and version in email notifications."

It could look like this:

There are updates available for one or more of your modules or themes. To ensure the proper functioning of your site, you should update as soon as possible.

See the available updates page for more information:
https://example.org/admin/reports/updates

Your site is currently configured to send these emails when any updates are available. To get notified only for security updates, https://example.org/admin/reports/updates/settings.
