Thanks @ressa.
This is resolved with https://www.drupal.org/node/3159961/revisions/view/12585826/13381595 → because it was the quick thing to do.
However, it seems there may still be a use for this module, but it needs more investigation.
From #3238461-4: Filename Transliteration moved into Drupal 10.2 core → (please follow this issue):
This module simplifies sequences of periods, dashes/hyphens, and underscores to a single character including
_-_
among others. The core patch currently would not simplify these kinds of strings. Depending on what decision is taken there, there could be a very minor role for this module to play to provide additional cleanups of this kind on top of what core ends up doing. Therefore, I'm going to go ahead and mark this fixed, but I may be iterating on the messaging depending on when I (or anyone, really) has time to perform necessary gap analysis, file core feature request follow-ups, and if necessary, release a new version built on top of core to fill any gaps. Hopefully I won't have to, but since there are now Events that can be subscribed to, Core maintainers may relegate additional cleanups to contrib space.
