Update from 8.x-4.13 to 6.0.0-beta4

Created on 14 December 2023, 11 months ago

Problem/Motivation

I have Radix 8.x-4.13 installed with a custom subtheme. Now I have upgraded to Drupal 10.1.6. Is there a way I can upgrade to Bootstrap 5 without re-creating the subtheme? I am not asking that towards what has changed btw. Bootstrap 4 and 5, this is purely a Drupal/Radix question.

Is there a way and is it documented anywhere? Thanks.

  • Hey there, so it's going to be a lot of work to some extent upgrading from Bootstrap 4 to 5, one side is Bootstrap 5 changes and its backward compatibility, and the other is Drupal SDC and changed components

it's possible to do so, but I'd start a fresh theme and migrate my theme slowly into the new subtheme off of 6.x

So start by migrating your SCSS, JS, and then your twig and once all that is done, update/replace the components

unfortunately, no documentation on that since it's different/difficult to do so per project scale

I am closing the ticket for now but feel free to ask if you have any questions
