As @apaderno mentioned in the linked issue, simple_sitemap_views is now under the umbrella of simple_sitemap, so please don't use that other obsoleted module.
In regards to maintainership, I'm happy to consider, but I need to see a history of quality code contributions first - feel free to grab issues and create patches.
