Error: Call to a member function render() on string in Drupal\view_custom_table\Form\AddViewsCustomTable->buildForm()

I just installed this module for the first time on 10.1.6 and received the following error when trying to add a table (actually a mysql view) and another similar error when trying to add a relationship definition:
Error: Call to a member function render() on string in Drupal\view_custom_table\Form\AddViewsCustomTable->buildForm()

I've created a patch to address this.
