The "Maximum alias length" setting is being ignored

Problem/Motivation

Setting the maximum alias length to 150 and then creating a group content node with a path of 151 doesn't trigger any errors/warnings. The full path of 151 characters is created.

Steps to reproduce

Navigate to /admin/config/search/path/settings and change the maximum alias length to 150. Create a basic page with a url alias of 151 or greater. The save should go through.

Checked this and things are working as expected. Automatically created paths are respecting the "Maximum alias length" value.

@blu_regard, are you creating the node by unchecking "Generate automatic URL alias" option and putting url alias manually? Maximum length will work only for automatically generated paths.

I tried to reproduce this issue. I set the maximum alias length to 150 and add 200. Pathauto can generate a path up to a given maximum alias length very correctly. Not able to reproduce this issue on my end.

I'm guessing that was done by adding such a long alias manually, which our setting does not cover and isn't meant to.
