Taking over the Video.js (HTML5 Video Player) namespace

Hello,

I am very interested in using the Video.js (HTML5 Video Player) module namespace to release my videojs module for Drupal 10 and I definitely need to have ownership of the project to continue the processes.

https://www.drupal.org/project/videojs

Considering videojs project open to new maintainer applications on 5 Oct, 2021 and also no new release after Drupal 7.x,
Could you please transfer ownership of project to me?

https://www.drupal.org/project/videojs/issues/3237069

Thank you for considering this proposition, and I eagerly await your response.

With regards
Mahyar SBT

I have no objections. You're very welcome to continue the development of this module.

@Jorrit The project will be used for a totally different module. mahyarsbt wants to just use the module machine name. (This could not make any difference for you, but it is just to make clear what the request is about.)

I understand, I meant to say that I am happy that a new maintainer is going to work on the integration between videojs and Drupal. Of course, the last code was for Drupal 7 and this means that this D10 version is completely new.

(Anyway, we want to know what the project owner thinks about this, as the last word is his.)

@Jorrit Thank you very much, I hope I can be present in this project and I would be happy to work together.

In fact, I also want to make a module to integrate the video.js library with Drupal. Similar to the version that was done for the Drupal 7 version in the past.

@apaderno I wanted to express my special thanks for the kindness and help you have given me during this time.

In this opportunity, I want to talk a little to avoid misunderstanding. And also guide me if I am doing wrong.

I love Drupal and have been working with it for about 14 years (version 5 till now). In these years, I had made various modules and templates for many projects, such as modules (MLM module, for Multi Level Marketing, Genealogy module, etc.). Unfortunately, I did not register any of them on the Drupal site because these projects were not personal. I decided to do it for my personal projects.

Considering that 50,967 modules are created in Drupal and only 7,351 of these modules are made for Drupal 10. Most of the modules are either empty and the project creator has not published any version in the past few years or these projects it is for past versions and is obsolete. Also, when I contact the owners of the projects, they do not answer or say that they have not been active on Drupal for years.

I already got the other names and since its owner is no longer active in the project, I will take ownership of that module to ensure the continuity of my work. Such as WOW JS but I didn't remove any of the previous owner and developers. My goal is to complete the project.

The easy and fast way for me is to register other names with suffixes and prefixes and continue my activity without interruption.

But I think this is not true. Maybe it would be better if I got the correct and exact name for the project than, for example, naming my module "the_better_videojs" module, In this way, the namespaces are increasing in Drupal, which we see a lot similar to, and I don't think it looks interesting, While the original names for the project remain empty or inactive.

I apologize if my way of thinking and acting was wrong, I would be grateful if you could guide me.

    Thank you in advance

These issues need to be created in the project issue queue and kept there for 14 days.
The fact the project owner is not anymore active on drupal.org (not on the project) is only relevant for the site moderators, who would not contact project owners who are not anymore active on drupal.org. (When a site moderator is also a user administrator, the last time a project owner logged in could also be checked.)

Since a new maintainer has been added as per #3237069: videojs project open to new maintainer applications on 5 Oct, 2021 , it is not possible to fulfill this request.

As a side note, if the purpose is to become co-maintainers/maintainers to port a project to Drupal 10, that is not taking over the project namespace.
