RuntimeException: Failed to start the session because headers have already been sent

Problem/Motivation

After updating to the 2.1 version released today, I get the following error when loading the available updates page of Drupal:

RuntimeException: Failed to start the session because headers have already been sent by "/opt/drupal/web/modules/contrib/bat/modules/bat_event/bat_event.module" at line 1.

Steps to reproduce

update module to 'drupal/bat:2.1'. Open the /admin/reports/updates page in Drupal. See error

Proposed resolution

bat/modules/bat_event/bat_event.module contains whitespace before the <?php tag. Removing this fixes the error. Will post patch soon.

Here is a patch that should fix the problem against the 2.x branch.
Issue was unassigned.
