The layout region "undefined" does not exist! when dropping a portlet outside of the layout

Problem/Motivation

Dragging a portlet and dropping it somewhere, for example just inside the source "Add portlet" region leads to an error message:
The layout region "undefined" does not exist!

Instead the JS should not be triggered at all, outside of valid drop regions.
