Marker change on entity reference or list values

Problem/Motivation

On my website, many different location types are possible, and I want to avoid having to have different location-content types with matching feeds importers etcetera.
Would it be possible make the markers react to either an entity reference (in my case a term reference) or a list option?

If so, how?
