Remove “Open merge request” button in favor of using GitLab directly

Problem/Motivation

📌 Check GitLab directly for issue fork push access, instead of trying to keep track Fixed caused a regression where the “Open merge request” button for issue forks is no longer shown.

I’m aware of 3 or 4 reports of missing this button. ~120 merge requests have been created today.

Proposed resolution

Since we’ve seen people are opening merge requests without big problems, we can go ahead and remove the rest of the custom code that supported this button.

  • Update documentation
  • Remove the rest of the button

User interface changes

None now, since the UI is already gone.
