Only work with saved nodes but not for node creation ? and saved content how long will it will be kept in the system ?

I have 2 questions please :

1: I can see the "saving draft.." message showing on the edit node screen, but not showup on the new node creation screen ? is this not working for the new node creation ?
2: On the edit node page, how long will the saved content be kept in the system? I don't see there are setting for this, if user logout and login again, will the saved content still there ?
