Problem/Motivation
I would like to see Drupal as a product be promoted at industry conferences, with its own booth and marketing materials.
For example, at a higher education conference, there are numerous vendors of proprietary software, promoting and selling their products as a solution to organizations. An organization called WP Campus is also there promoting WordPress as a solution for higher ed. But despite its strong presence in this vertical, there's no one promoting Drupal as a product/solution. It's invisible.
I'd like to see a Drupal booth at conferences like this, promoting and selling Drupal as a product and solution. It shouldn't fall to agencies to be the only ones promoting Drupal, as we have our own specific business goals and needs, and it can lead to a confused understanding of what Drupal is really about.
Proposed resolution
If others think this is a good idea, I think the next steps are to discuss how this would be funded and who would work the booths at conferences. Once the current rebranding work is complete, that would be a good time to design some basic booth materials (signage, handout materials, etc.) We could start small with a 10x10 booth and go from there? This could also be a booth that is used at future DrupalCons, for which there is already a need.
