After trying to install this module using composer (version 2.5.5), I'm getting this error
Package drupal/required_by_form_mode's dist key should be specified as {"type": ..., "url": ..., "reference": ..., "shasum": ...}, {"type":"zip","url":null,"reference":"1.0.0-alpha2","shasum":""} given.
Perhaps it's the problem with the indentations, where after "key": we need additional space.
(BTW, module smoothly installs via drupal admin UI).

we have fixed this issue to push the new release 1.0.0 :
Try: composer require 'drupal/required_by_form_mode:^1.0'
