List and join efforts with custom_field

Problem/Motivation

This module was my motivation to start custom_field → . I tried to do the right thing by originally contacting maintainer before I created my module but didn't receive a response. The development in my module has advanced well beyond flexfield and provides an important feature to add/remove columns to fields with existing data that makes these composed field types a realistic alternative to traditional field api content modeling. It appears flexfield is not actively being developed beyond its current state and there are a handful of bugs & feature requests that custom_field has already accounted for.

Proposed resolution

While I can't thank you enough for the original work in this module that inspired my own, I do feel its in the best interest of the community to unify efforts and consider marking this module 'obsolete' and listing custom_field → as a preferred alternative. I'd be happy to add you as a maintainer in custom_field as well if you are still interested in advancing this concept. Thank you for all your work on this!

Yep - I agree! I apologize for not getting back to you way back then. I wish I had so that we could have kept the namespace and not left any FlexField users without an upgrade path. Totally my fault though for dropping the ball!

I've updated the FlexField project page to include a link to Custom Field and marked it as deprecated.
