File module setting protected property of File object

My IDE is reporting "Member has protected visibility" for "source" in the following line of code (line 1083 in D9.5) of file.module:

  $file->source = $form_field_name;

That code unit was overhauled in #2940025: Remove deprecated functions from file module → . In general, when reporting deprecations and code smells like this the way to go is to check the development branch first.
