Currently the view mode is hardcoded to "thumbnail" in the component config. This should be configurable as we cannot assume that will always be the intended selection. For example on my site, I use the "media_library" image style for all my focal point dialogs thrugh the widget settings on manage form display.
Another case would be that preview is hardcoded to TRUE, and there is no way to disable that either.
