Integration with book outlines?

I would like to be able to set permissions recursively in book pages

I have some long and elaborate books - rather than going through and editing pages individually, is there any way to edit a taxonomy term, for instance, in the top page of a book and then have those permissions cascade to the bottom?

It may be possible to do this with Views Bulk Edit or something similar, but I thought I'd check here first
