Title on google searches taken from image on the node and not the actual title of the page

Created on 16 August 2023, over 1 year ago

If i search for a keyphrase in google, the site i am working on comes up but has a title showing that does not exist anywhere on that node/content/title/body/anywhere.....

But it is used in the image title used on that nodes banner.

If you go here https://pace.run/list-ultra-marathon-races-national-park-eryri-snowdonia...

And I searched for something related to that node on Google,

Google shows me this title to click to go from Google to the node/link above.

"snowdonia north wales ultra marathon race"

Why is that title showing, how has it taken it from the image title and not the actual title of the node?

    That's certainly odd.

It's worth noting that Google doesn't guarantee it will use the data presented in your content the way you want it to, it may decide to use other text at its own discretion.

That said, you might try using the Schema Metatag module β†’ , and the Schema Webpage submodule in it, to define JSON-LD meta data on the page, it may be a little more authoritative than just the page title on its own. You might also look in Google Analytics to see if you can refresh the data, or see if it can give you insights into why it uses the image's alt text instead of the page title.
