The latest Alpha 11 version will not install using composer and does not throw any errors, just fails.
I have checked composer.json and there is nothing there that appears to be causing the problem - alpha permitted and version not restricted.
This leads me to think that there is another issue such as a required update to another required module version? Like a jquery routine?
I have read the alpha11 release notes, but there is nothing specific about requirements.
Could you please advise.

Hi there, sorry for the late reply.
I stood up a fresh sandbox environment and was able to install the latest alpha11 version of the module with
composer require drupal/views_ical
Can you provide the terminal output of what you are seeing? An example of your composer.json file?
