In the latest version 2.0.5 of menulink (Field), the menu_ui implementation of form_node_form_alter is disabled by default. This should include the module differently (First check if we have a specific field and then unset the menu_ui form elements or set access to false).
However, this module has a dependency to the menu_link module which I don't think is needed. I can't find any code where we use logic from the menu_link module.
Install both modules and go create a basic page. You will notice that the menu part is missing.
