Not able to upload svg in image field

Problem/Motivation

I need to upload the svg image inside the image field to my site. In field settings I added the svg extension.
Even after including the svg extension, I'm not able to upload the image. and It shows doesn't show the svg extension in error message (Only allowed file extensions JPEG, JPG, PNG)

What about other image file formats? The problem is not only with svg files. For instance if I want to include .avif image files svg_image module won't help right?
