Field body that has 'Summary or Trimmed' format does not work in the JSON response

I have a content type 'Event' with a specific display where the 'body' field is set to the 'Summary or trimmed' format. However, in the JSON response, the full body text is appearing instead of the expected summary or trimmed version.
