Batched export not available for MariaDB ?

I just saw in README.md that "The batched export functionality of this module requires a MySQL database."

Does it mean it's impossible with MariaDB ? Is it possible to add that functionnality ?

I think it does work with MariaDB. We use the 7.x branch with MariaDB.

yes, seems a restriction only for 8, 9, ...

I'm on D10 and MariaDB, and there's no batched export as far as I can tell. I wonder why this restriction exists
