While CAPTCHA 8.x-1.10 isn't marked Drupal 10 compatible anymore due to incompatibilities (see 🐛 Image not shown, PHP error Closed: duplicate ), older versions (from 8.x-1.3 on: https://www.drupal.org/project/captcha/releases/8.x-1.3 → ) were marked as Drupal 10 compatible, but have D10 compatibility issues.
When upgrading to Drupal 10, composer prefers the older 8.x versions instead the Drupal 10 compatible 2.0.0-beta version (because of the beta).
As 2.0.0-beta2 is out for a while now with no major issues, but instead fixing many issues from 8.x and the CAPTCHA codebase definitely generally needs further work, we should not hold up the 2.0.0 release of CAPTCHA for Drupal 10 anymore to safe people from upgrading trouble.

Marking duplicate of ✨ Difficult migration from Drupal 9 to 10 Fixed People still are getting old 8.x-1.x versions because the composer version constraint upper was changed. We can fix/revert that in that issue instead.
