Is taxonomy term path required? How to make its export optional?

Problem/Motivation

Taxonomy terms can be accesses by default at /taxonomy/term/[tid] so I wonder why we should create the same path explicitly in the configuration and if we could disable it.

The inconvenient is that even if you didn't define any path alias on the taxonomy terms, on import you will get path aliases like this:
