Composer error and a question

When installing another module via composer, Terminal throws the following warning:

Invalid json in modules/contrib/image_focus/composer.json

The module doesn't seem to do anything. I'm on Drupal 10 using PHP 8.1. The latest comment on https://www.drupal.org/project/image_focus/issues/3324750 📌 mauricesvay/php-facedetection library is abandoned so does not support PHP8 or greater Fixed seems to indicate this might be a lost cause for me... is it?

try
composer require 'drupal/image_focus:2.0.x-dev@dev'
It was a typo during the latest release, right not there is no any minor issues to process, we have to release this fix to latest module version.
