Compatibility with Drupal 10 broken

The command composer require 'drupal/bootstrap_italia:^2.3 on a Drupal 10.0.8 installation causes the error Requirements could not be resolved to an installable set of packages. The problem description is as follows.

Problem 1
    - drupal/components 2.4.0 requires drupal/core ^8.7.7 || ^9 -> found drupal/core[8.7.7, ..., 8.9.20, 9.0.0, ..., 9.5.8] but the package is fixed to 10.0.8 (lock file version) by a partial update and that version does not match. Make sure you list it as an argument for the update command.
    - drupal/bootstrap_italia[2.3.0, ..., 2.3.2] require drupal/components >=2.4 -> satisfiable by drupal/components[2.4.0].
    - Root composer.json requires drupal/bootstrap_italia ^2.3 -> satisfiable by drupal/bootstrap_italia[2.3.0, 2.3.1, 2.3.2].

The dependency on drupal/components 2.4.0 seems to be the culprit. If this can't be resolved, the theme should maybe not claim Drupal 10 compatibility yet.
