Changing "Image quality" percentage on WebP Deriver does not affect rendered output

Created on 13 April 2023, over 1 year ago

Problem/Motivation

Prior to installing ImageAPI Optimze + ImageAPI Optimze WebP, I had been using Drupal 9's core "Convert WEBP" on image styles with success. My motivation for using ImageAPI Optimze WebP is to further optimize rendered images. However, in my testing, adjusting the "Image quality" percentage on the "WebP Deriver" processor does have any affect on the final output.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install/enable ImageAPI Optimze
  2. Install/enable ImageAPI Optimze WebP
  3. Create new Image optimize pipeline (named "webp") with a single processor, WebP Deriver.
  4. Edit the WebP Deriver processor and set the Image quality to 50.
  5. Update all image styles to use "webp" in their respective Image Optimize Pipeline setting.
  6. Flush all image formats.
  7. Clear all caches.

Next, when visiting a page on which one of the image styles is rendered, the WebP version of the image is generated but the size is the same as when generated prior to the installation of ImageAPI Optimze + ImageAPI Optimze WebP).

Perhaps I'm missing a step somewhere?
