Automatically assumes that we want the new field displayed everywhere

Problem/Motivation

This is great, it does exactly what it says, and it's exactly what need for educational site.

However, is very unconventional to automatically apply the display of field in every view mode of every content type by default!

To illustrate the sizeable overhead introduced simply by turning on the module, we have 21 content types each with up to 8 view modes and that means we have to go and make 168 edits to the Manage Display settings across all the content types simply remove the newly added fields that we didn't asks for and sadly we can't go with that.

I hope that makes sense.

Most modules would never make the decision to assume that because we have new functionality that we automatically want it appear all over place and the the only other one that I can think which does is (the very brilliant in all other respects) EVA views → module - a wonderfully useful module but every time you create a new EVA view you are forced to go an edit every related mange display settings - boo.

Can this be dealt with?, we're definitely up for demo / discussion
