Problems with sidebar on smaller screens

We have avoided these kinds of changes that would need to be applied to the Claro theme itself instead of the side dialog.

We are tightly focused on the following kinds of ux changes:

Adding elements to the node edit page (with a focus on having minimal impact).
Controlling the user experience of the side dialog (focused on providing a good user experience, but also trying to reuse as much as we can from core)

I think it's great you filed this bug, however, because we can now point to this as being a concern for the Claro theme. Please create a bug with the theme itself and reference this issue.

Same problem. I switched to Gin and it made things better. The new window option is a possible solution. Maybe that could open in a new tab?

This one might be out of our scope. The issue isn't with the preview pane we're adding but with the Claro theme's handling of the secondary settings for a node.

Still we might consider embracing and extending the page when it settings aren't collapsed. That might cause other issues.

We should keep this issue open to discuss.

I wonder if this issue is fixed in the latest version (and it's collapsible buttons)

I can confirm that I no longer see the originally reported issue. I should point out, however, that when using Gin as the admin theme it is not possible to have the sidebar open while the Preview pane is open. Probably that should be filed as a separate issue.
