Merge 8.x-1.x fixes into 2.x

Problem/Motivation

As written by @Ambient.Impact in 🌱 PWA module 3.x roadmap Active in #43 🌱 PWA module 3.x roadmap Active we're merging fixes that only went into 8.x-1.x into 2.x here now to have 2.x up to date and Drupal 10 compatible.

Afterwards, we'll make 2.x Drupal 10 compatible by 📌 Automated Drupal 10 compatibility fixes Fixed and deprecate 8.x-1.x.

So we have 2.x as stable semver version while we can work on further improvements on 3.x!
