Datafield as data sets to provides content for pages.
For example, put the novel chapters content onto a node, but a chapter as a page output by the views page (e.g. /chapter/%)
This will decrease the quantity of nodes(nids), reduce database overhead.
It is not just as the case of the novel, for a site with a large number of content is very useful.
This is just a feature request advice recorded here, if the same idea of peoples need the feature, whether it is worth to develop

I don't quite understand what you mean and the project you want to do. but i think there are many ways to do it, book module, inline form, Component Builder → , or the best performance is module paragraphs and combo paragraphs tabs bootstrap →
