I get the following error during install, on the optional modules form step submission.
TypeError: Drupal\social\Installer\OptionalModuleManager::__construct(): Argument #2 ($install_profile) must be of type string, null given, called in /app/html/profiles/contrib/social/src/Installer/OptionalModuleManager.php on line 54 in Drupal\social\Installer\OptionalModuleManager->__construct() (line 43 of profiles/contrib/social/src/Installer/OptionalModuleManager.php)
Create a new project through composer create-project goalgorilla/social_template:dev-master DIRECTORY --no-interaction and proceed to install via the UI. I'm on a local Lando env.

Could you please provide some more information? I tried to replicate the issue on my local environment with PHP 8.0.8 and it was not replicating. The installation went through smoothly with default optional modules selected and the site was working absolutely fine post-installation.
