Autocomplete filter does not apply

Trying to write a test for this patterned on core/modules/taxonomy/tests/src/Functional/TermAutocompleteTest.php and it simply will not return the expected JSON data.

Also found that jQuery.once has been deprecated.

Can't use FunctionalJavaScript for autocompletes....
